nappy money

How much is the nappy allowance?

The applicant receives a one-off payment of €200 per child.
The nappy allowance is generally granted once per semester and, as a rule, no more than twice during the course of study.

Who can claim the nappy allowance?

Students who are parents of one or more children under the age of six and who do not meet the personal requirements for receiving benefits under the Federal Training Assistance Act (Section II BAföG) and who do not receive either the DAKA loan or the KfW student loan are eligible to apply.

Any eligible applicant who, after deduction of deductible costs, has less than 40% of the maximum BAföG rate remaining per month to cover living expenses on a permanent basis (longer than three months) is entitled to receive the benefit. Rent obligations of up to €800 and health insurance costs of up to an additional €200 are deductible.
Eligibility must be proven by presenting a valid student ID card, a valid identity card, passport or residence permit, and the child's birth certificate. To prove eligibility for the nappy allowance, you must submit your own bank statements for the last three months. Other documents to be submitted include loan agreements, the rental agreement and proof of income, as well as a statement explaining the emergency situation.

Where do I apply for the nappy allowance?

The AStA chair will review your eligibility to apply for and receive the benefit. Please fill out the application form and attach the required documents.
